Research
The goal of the Enesca project is to lay the foundation for production of energy storage devices that can be made from organic renewable resources, via eco-efficient processes and end of life handling.
A main challenge for materials research is to find sustainable ways of providing and administrating both the power our present lifestyle demands, and the power needed to allow for sustainable growth in developing countries 

Lithium ion battery (LIB) technology is expected to be very important in this development. It has the potential to manage the power supply of vehicles and small to medium sized local energy sources. But since the materials used in present LIBs are obtained from mineral resource, the future supply is limited and the energy required in the produvtion is high.  

This project wants to contribute to more eco-friendly alternatives for energy storage. The project is thus expected to contribute to sustainability without compromising on global development of living standards.  

The ongoing research in the project reaches from understanding the mechanisms governing the functionality of the storage device to developing up-scalable components and integrated devices. Read more.
